Bite Optimization: How it Works

Categories: Dentist Roy UT

What is TMJ?

When we close our mouth, our teeth come in contact with each other, creating a bite.  If our teeth begin to shift, it may result in bite problems, headaches, facial pain, ear ringing, neck pain, and shoulder pain. An incorrect bite, also known as malocclusion, can be caused by a variety of issues, including incorrect swallowing pattern, improper tongue positioning, and failure to replace missing teeth. TMJ is a chronic or acute inflammation of the joint which connects the lower jaw and skull. This debilitating disorder can create headaches, migraines, earaches, joint stiffness, facial pain, and jaw popping. Fortunately, there is now a way to properly diagnose and treat TMJ disorder.
